North Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce

Serving its members and the community for more than 60 years, the mission of the North Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce is “to take specific actions to help improve opportunities for local businesses to achieve and sustain success; to promote business, tourism, and the economic, cultural and civic welfare of the greater North Lake Tahoe community.”  The Chamber’s adopted Business Plan, along with a list of member benefits, is available to view or download on this Web site.  This information and more about the Chamber is on

In partnership with the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association, the Chamber addresses issues vital to the well-being and sustainability of the business community.  These issues include marketing and tourism promotion, economic and community development and diversification, redevelopment, workforce housing, workforce training, community planning, environmental stewardship, and other aspects of implementing the adopted North Lake Tahoe Tourism and Community Investment Master Plan.

The Chamber also assists the NLTRA in providing visitor information services.  The Chamber office and year-around Visitor Information Center is located at 100 North Lake Boulevard, in the historic Tahoe City Community Center (next to the Fire Station) in downtown Tahoe City.  A second Chamber office is located in Incline Village, inside the Incline Village Visitors Center at 969 Tahoe Boulevard.  During the summer season, the Chamber helps provide visitor information services at North Tahoe Beach, a beautiful lakefront recreational property owned by the California Tahoe Conservancy near the intersection of state highways 28 and 267 in Kings Beach.

Tahoe North Visitors and Convention Bureau

For more than 25 years, the Tahoe North Visitors and Convention Bureau (TNVCB) has been the primary destination marketing organization for eastern Placer County and the greater North Lake Tahoe region. As documented in the North Lake Tahoe Tourism and Community Investment Master Plan, a proven definition of a destination marketing organization (DMO) is one whose function is to cooperatively promote tourism based on shared objectives among and between participating member businesses and constituents which are more effectively and efficiently accomplished collectively than independently.

In 1995, the TNVCB became the Tourism Division of the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association. The NLTRA's adopted mission statement directs the organization to promote tourism and benefit business. Through its contract with Placer County, the NLTRA is charged with providing a full spectrum of management activities for tourism marketing and visitor services for businesses of the North Lake Tahoe area. These responsibilities are assigned to the NLTRA's Tourism Division and are generally consistent with those of destination marketing organizations in other resort communities.

The Master Plan calls upon the Tourism Division to champion the marketing, sales and other collective efforts to generate visitation and tourism related revenues. It also calls upon the division to advocate in support of competitive destination tourism products and services, appropriate environmental stewardship, and the cooperative actions necessary to ensure the availability of a skilled local workforce able to adequately serve the needs of North Lake Tahoe's tourism based economy. In doing so, the Tourism Division coordinates with and supports the NLTRA's infrastructure and transportation development functions, community revitalization strategies, and the overall role of the NLTRA as the organization that collaborates with a wide variety of community investment partners, both public and private. Two important marketing partners are the Incline Village Crystal Bay Visitors Bureau (IVCBVB) and the North Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce. The NLTRA and the IVCBVB are founding partners in the North Lake Tahoe Marketing Cooperative (NLTMC), established in October of 2006. The NLTMC is designed to promote the entire North Lake Tahoe region under one advertising campaign umbrella, with the goal of further establishing the unique identity and attractions of our region. The North Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce provides visitor information services and promotes the full range of attractions and "things to do" in the region. The Chamber and the NLTRA's other community marketing partners play a key role in marketing strategies and plans by helping to ensure a positive vacation experience, and by encouraging longer stays and return visitation.

In addition to planning and coordinating marketing and sales efforts on behalf of its tourism dependent businesses, constituents and partners, the Tourism Division (TNVCB) provides several important support functions, including Group/Conference Sales, Leisure Travel Sales, Special Projects and Promotions, and Public Relations.
